7. Pelikula Nisargdhama
Pilikula is a Tulu word and means Tiger Pond. It is situated in a village called Madushedde and is at a distance of three kilometers from Vamanjoor and about eighteen kilometers from the main Mangalore city. This place came into being in 1990, however, it gained popularity only after ten years. Now it is quite a popular place for residents of Mangalore as well as visitors alike. This is a small but an interesting zoo housing several species of animals but in small numbers. The fauna includes several species of deers, tigers, wild boars, leopard, snakes, porcupines, lion and some birds.
8. Vamanjoor: This is a pretty little town on the coast of Mangalore in the state of Karnataka. This place is situated very close to Gurupura and Kudupu. This small town is well reckoned for several significant historical and geographical reasons. Also, the first as well as the only Catholic Engineering College in Karnataka, St. Joseph Engineering College is located here. When in Vamanjoor you must visit Pilikula Nisargadhama and Manasa amusement Water Park
9. Tagore park: Tagore Park is situated on top of the famous light-house hill. This light house hill is situated at a distance of two kilometers Mangalore. Inside the Tagore Park you will see a marvelous eighteenth century monument. Also you must visit the ancient St Aloysius College Chapel built right next to the lighthouse. The walls and ceilings of the Chapel are beautifully decorated with intricate artwork featuring Bibilical stories.
10. Kadri park: As the name suggests Kadri Park is a nice garden and a great place for family hangouts. It is situated at a distance of five kilometers from the AIR studios in the main mangalore city. It is situated in Kadri gudde. This is the biggest park located within the city limits. This park has beautiful landscape as well as a small zoo enclosure and a toy train. This place is a great hangout place for people of all age groups.
11. Panambur, New Mangalore Port: This port is a modernistic all-weather port located at Panambur in Mangalore. This port’s exact location is one hundred and seventy nautical miles to the South of Mormugao & one hundred and ninety one nautical miles North of Cochin Port on the western coast.
12. Venur: This place is located at a distance of fifty kilometers from Mangalore. It is a very small town famous for 8 Jain Bastis as well as the Mahadeva Temple. While you are here don’t miss the seventeenth century old, eleven meter high, statue of Bahubali. This statue is visible from the southern bank of Gurupur river.
13. Kudroli Gokarnath Temple: It is situated at a distance of three kilometers from the Nehru Maidan bus stop. This place has been quite recently restored and renovated and is now amongst the most visited temple in Mangalore.
14. Mangaladevi Temple: Mangalore actually got its name from this temple. This temple was built in the memory of the Princess of Kerala by Attacar’s Ballal family.
